Along with the responsibilities listed below, registration fees are covered for the following conferences:
- One (1) board member for the National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA)
- Two (2) board members for the SHPE National Conference (based on funding availability)
- Two (2) board members for the Region 2 Leadership Development Conference (RLDC)
President
Time Commitment: 5-12 hour monthly
Role Description: The President shall represent the Corporation and be responsible for all business concerning the corporation. The President shall have full power in the management and business of the corporation, and shall set and establish all policy of the corporation and/or other functions or activities by or under the direction of this corporation, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.
The president is responsible to ensure corporate business is conducted per the by-laws of the corporation, including:
- Represent the SHPE-SD chapter
- Serve as a liaison between the chapter, industry partners, community partners, and SHPE Regional and National levels
- Be responsible for the administration of the chapter, including preparation of agendas in collaboration with VP of Operations
- Chair and preside officer, general, and other necessary meetings concerning the chapter
- Manage Public Relations in collaboration with VP Marketing
- Communication with all SHPE stakeholders in collaboration with VP Communications
- Ensure fiscal responsibility in collaboration with VP of Finance
- Ensure that all reporting, assessment, and accountability measures are executed
- Transfer electronic document outlining important information to the succeeding President within 15 days of termination of their term

Vice President of Corporate Affairs
Time Commitment: 5-12 hours monthly commitment
Role Description: Vice President of Corporate Affairs is to manage sponsorships, build relationships with industry partners, and grow a network of industry partners.
The responsibilities of the Vice President of Corporate Affairs are as follows:
- Build relationships with HR and/or ERG representatives
- Identify hosts for professional chapter meetings
- Oversee all aspects of industry sponsorships, including sponsorship package
- Grow industry sponsorships
- Maintain an accurate industry contact list
- Document all communication, activities, and all other related files using Google Workspace
- Conduct activities with board approval
- Seek board approval for financial expenditures

Vice President of Finance
Time Commitment: 5-12 hours monthly commitment
Role Description: The Vice President of Finance ensures corporate financial business is conducted per the by-laws of the corporation. Receives membership dues from SHPE, Inc. Disburses authorized funds and accounts for all corporate funds. Ensures all IRS, California tax forms, and California General Attorney requirements are submitted at the appropriate date.
The responsibilities of the Vice President of Finance are as follows:
- Conduct all financial and banking transactions, including disbursement of funds
- Prepare and present monthly treasurer’s report to the board, listing liability and assets
- Update the financial ledger on a monthly basis
- Document all transactions (income, expenditures)
- File State and Federal Forms before or on due date
- Maintain 501© (3) status of the Chapter
- Prepare an annual budget
- Document all communication, activities, and all other related files using Google Workspace

Vice President of Operations
Time Commitment: 5-12 hours monthly commitment
Role Description: The Vice President of Operations shall maintain records concerning the business aspects of the corporation. Provide documentation for all business recordings of the corporation. Administer all policy of the corporation and/or other functions or activities. Ensures corporate business is conducted per the by-laws of the corporation and board governance board practices.
The responsibilities of the Vice President of Operations are as follows:
- Prepare Board Agenda and Minutes for Approval of all relevant business meetings
- Calendar events, meetings, and other relevant activities
- Maintain inventory of all material owned i.e. equipment, hardware and software
- Distribute articles for conducting Chapter business
- Ensure business is conducted using Robert’s Rules of Order
- Maintain files, archives, and email lists
- Ensure assets are protected including intellectual property asset

Vice President of Marketing

Role Description: The Vice President of Marketing will be responsible for managing the SHPE San Diego Professional brand and will further be responsible for promoting the organization and events for our membership in San Diego, Southern California and beyond as applicable for the event and/or activity. The Vice President of marketing will also be responsible for managing our social media strategy to ensure we appropriately promote and highlight the activities and successes of our chapter and members.
The responsibilities of the Vice President of Marketing are as follows:
- Manage social media channels and account
- Develop social media strategy and posts
- Design marketing materials for events, activities, and programming
- Maintain website
- Manages web hosting
- Maintain LinkedIn Account
- Maintain Mailchimp Account

Vice President of Membership

Role Description: The Vice President of Membership will be responsible for instituting plans and methods to maintain and grow our membership. The benefits and value add of being a SHPE SD Professional will be instrumental to making sure our membership is aware of the benefits. Furthermore, the VP of Membership will proactively engage with our members to understand their needs and challenges to further help prioritize the activities and direction of the organization.

Vice President of Technology

Role Description: The Vice President of Technology will be responsible for instituting plans and methods to manage and maintain our organizational IT infrastructure and SW needs. The VP of Technology will actively manage our account permissions, infrastructure, and software needs. The VP of Technology will also set our strategy for determining ways to make our organization more efficient using technology.

Role Description: Vice President of student affairs is to oversee all aspects of SHPE Student Chapters.
The responsibilities of the Vice President of Student Affairs are as follows:
- Collaborate with student chapters to support programming
- Disseminate information from the student chapters back to the board
- Maintain an accurate student chapter contact list
- Oversee Scholarship Program, including banquet
- Oversee K-12 educational programs

Director of PartnerSHPE- Reports to the President

Role Description: Oversee and develop working relationships with community STEM organizations such as NSBE, SWE, LatinaGeeks, and other such organizations that share a common goal of supporting and enhancing the pipeline of underrepresented groups in STEM.
The responsibilities of the Director of PartnerSHPEs are as follows:
- Manage a committee of team members who will support these partnerships with the various community STEM organizations.
- Maintain active communications with the organizations and proactively share information back to the board.
- Introduce SHPE to the respective organizational leadership team.
- Be available to attend the respective organizational general body meetings and summarize details back to board.
- Seek out collaborative opportunities that align to SHPE’s mission and maximize the experiences for our members.

Director of MentorSHPE- Reports to Vice President Corporate Affairs
Time Commitment: 5-12 hours monthly commitment
Role Description: Develop and maintain a Mentorship program utilizing our more experienced members and corporate sponsors to develop a program that benefits our early professionals by providing them with the tools and awareness necessary to successfully navigate the complexities of succeeding in the workplace.
The responsibilities of the Director of MentorSHPE are as follows:
- Define, implement, and manage the MentorSHPE Program
- Manage a committee of team members focused at pairing up our early professionals with our experienced professionals.
- Recruit experienced professionals to be available as mentors for early professionals part of our membership seeking out mentorship.
- Recruit early professionals who are members to join the mentorship program
- Evaluate the program by collecting data from the Mentors and Mentee and translate the data into actionable items to improve the program.

Role Description: Manage a committee focused at deriving ways to raise funds to raise funds for the organization. Team should look at traditional ways (enhancing our sponsorship package) and non-traditional ways of raising funds for the organization.
The responsibilities of the Director of Fundraising are as follows:
- Develop fundraising strategy for the organization
- Execute fundraising strategy
- Collaborate with VP of Membership to engage members in fundraising events

- Develops activities for professionals related to professional growth with the intent to give our membership value add.
- Develop and implement career and leadership development activities
- Engage Professional Speakers that can help provide focused topics for our membership
- Plan networking events for our membership to improve engagement
- Plan and implement events that foster collaboration amongst our members

- Ensure events are properly marketed across all social media and website
- Ensure all communications are executed to the SHPE San Diego Branding and in a consistent manner.
