Our FINAL session of our Professional Leadership Series Seminars, Well-Crafted Self-Promotion,  will be held Wednesday, July 18th, 2018 at 5:30 PM! Our guest presenter, Albert Alfaro, retired Boeing executive, will be presenting more in depth of his leadership sessions.

In your profession, there are certain skills and strategies you will have to execute to be able to effectively advance your career. Come learn these proven strategies, as used by Albert Alfaro, as he climbed the ladder to become an executive at Boeing Satellite Systems.

This final session will be held at Caltrans (District 11) in Old Town San Diego

SHPE National Scholarships

Did you miss out on applying for SHPE San Diego Scholarships this year? Well, don’t worry! SHPE National still has many scholarships available! Deadline is June 30th, 2018–don’t wait until the last minute!

Congratulations on your interest in advancing your academic career and your dedication to SHPE’s mission.

Please note that you must submit a photo/video release form, a student profile including a professional head-shot photo, updated resume, transcripts, and any other official documentation as required by the scholarship sponsor. All degree programs must be in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Scholarship awards are disbursed in two payments during Fall and Spring terms. You must be a full time student and meet GPA requirements for both terms to be eligible for both disbursements. All scholarships require a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 unless specified differently below.

Employees, direct relatives, and board members are not eligible to apply for any SHPE scholarship.

The following scholarships are available for the 2018-2019 academic year. 

 

American Transmission Co. Scholarship – $2,250

The American Transmission Co. would like to provide scholarships to electrical or civil engineering students interested in the power utility industry.

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Civil or Electrical Engineering Major
  • Full-time Student
  • U.S. Citizenship

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

SHPE Chevron Scholarship – $5,000
The SHPE Chevron Scholarship will provide financial support that will promote high academic achievement among students attending Florida International University, Texas A&M University, University of California – Davis, University of Florida, University of Houston, University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez, Univeristy of Southern California, University of Texas.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Full-time Student
  • Pursuing a Chemical, Civil, Computer Science/Computer, Electrical, Environmental, Material, Mechanical, Petroleum engineering, Safety, Construction, Information Technology or Cyber-security degree.
  • U.S Citizenship
  • Freshmen, Sophomore, or Junior Standing
  • Member of a technical society or extra-curricular activity.

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

Eaton Multicultural Scholarship Program (EMSP) – $2,500
Eaton values the importance of diversity and inclusion and is proud to provide this opportunity to Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering students.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Major
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Standing

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

John Deere Scholarship – $2,000
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage academic excellence and leadership development among Hispanic and Latino/a college students in STEM disciplines. Applicants must be rising sophomores, juniors, and grad students.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Studying in Region 6
  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
  • Sophomore, Junior or Graduate Standing

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises – $2,000
Telemundo Enterprises aspire to encourage academic excellence and leadership development among Hispanic and Latino/a college students in technology disciplines. Applicants must participate in organizational activities and be attending college or universities in the following cities: Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Phoenix.Winners of this scholarship will have the opportunity to have their name and photo featured on ElPoderEnTi.com and appear on air on Telemundo.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Studying in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, or Phoenix.
  • Junior or Senior Standing
  • SHPE Member

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

SHPE Dissertation Scholarship – TBD
SHPE will provide this scholarship to applicants who are enrolled in a STEM doctoral degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Full-time Student
  • SHPE Member

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

SHPE Graduate Scholarship – TBD
SHPE will provide this scholarship to Graduate applicants enrolled in a STEM degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. The scholarship will be awarded upon the basis of academic standing and financial need.

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Full-time Student
  • SHPE Member

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

SHPE Professional Scholarship – TBD
SHPE will provide this scholarship to applicants who are employed full-time in the U.S. or Puerto Rico in a technical career field AND enrolled in a STEM masters or doctoral degree program.

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Half-time Student
  • SHPE Member

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

SHPE Undergraduate Scholarship – TBD
SHPE will provide this scholarship to applicants who are enrolled in a STEM degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.The scholarship will be awarded upon the basis of academic standing and financial need.

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Full-time Student
  • SHPE Member

Scholarship will open May 1, 2018 and close June 30, 2018 11:59 PM PST. Recipients will be notified on August 15, 2018.

 

SHPE Scholarship – Graduating High School Senior – TBD 
SHPE will provide this scholarship to applicants who will be enrolled in a STEM degree program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Applicant must be a SHPE Jr. Chapter member and join as a SHPE Student member upon graduation from high school.

  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Full-time Student
  • SHPE Member
