President’s Farewell Message

PresidentsMessage_2

Buenas Tardes SHPE San Diego Familia.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the opportunity to be your President for the past few years.  As you know, today is my last day as the SHPE San Diego President and I couldn’t be more proud of the accomplishments and outcomes we have experienced as a result of this cabinet’s work.  I have been blessed to be surrounded by some amazingly talented individuals who have carried this organization to some of its brightest and rewarding years.  I could not have done it without them.

I can proudly say, that our team has taken a big step toward advancing this organization to where we want to be.  Our goal was not only to restore the proud legacy of SHPE San Diego, but to make it one of the leading chapters in the nation.  With your support, we have managed to do this.  Not only have we successfully brought the familia back together, but we have done so in a fashion that has been recognized by both Regional and National leadership.

It has been an honor to serve as your President, and I write to you with the bittersweet thought that tomorrow represents the end of one chapter, and the beginning of a new.  As a lifetime member, I have pledged my allegiance to the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and all that it stands for.  From working with Professionals and their continuous development all the way to promoting STEM studies to our community’s youth.  As I begin a new endeavor in my professional career, I look forward to the development of our mentoring program and supporting our future SHPE members, for it is important that everyone continues to do their part to keep the pipeline flowing.

Finally, I am very excited about our next president, Mr. Victor Guzman, who is an excellent leader and will serve as a great President for us.  I give him my full endorsement and will be there to support him and the new cabinet every step of the way.  Let us continue to grow in strength and influence to help change lives in San Diego and throughout the world.  Good night and God bless you all.

Luke Anthony Burgan,
President SHPE San Diego 2012-2014
