I am honored to be the President of our award - winning chapter. It is with great pleasure that have I taken up this challenge. It is my intent to fulfill our collective expectations and emulate the vision of our former presidents. The 2008-2009 Board brings professional experience and mirrors the commitment to SHPE SD goals.
This year we have many plans to continue fulfilling our mission to “... promote the development of Hispanics in engineering, science and other technical professions to achieve educational excellence, economic opportunity and social equity.” As the year progresses we will inform you about those plans through this website and will invite to participate. YOU are imperative to the success of the San Diego Chapter.

One of the main tenets of this chapter has always been to support our students through scholarships. This year, we have an innovative method to support this cause. In the link “Support SHPE SD” you will be able to shop online and the vendors will donate a portion of your purchase to SHPE SD. We are also planning to have a series of professional workshops that will enhance our technical and interpersonal skills and increase our competitiveness.

2008-2009 SHPE San Diego Professional Chapter

***Steven Carrillo obtained a B.S. in Systems Engineering at the University of Arizona in 2006. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration from San Diego State University. Steven is currently employed at BAE Systems as a Systems Engineer. In his spare time Steven coaches Special Olympics basketball team and is a big brother for the Big Brother Big Sisters program of San Diego.

Steven has been part of the SHPE La Familia for numerous years and looks forward to leading SHPE San Diego into the future.
