2016 National Engineers Week Update & Call for Award Nominations

San Diego Engineers and students,

Happy New Year, 2016! There are many events coming up in the next few months and 2016 National Engineers Week (NEW) is one SHPE San Diego participates in every year!

This year NEW will be celebrated February 21st – 27th with the highlight of the week being the Annual Banquet on Friday, February 26th. The banquet, organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) this year, is attended by over 300 attendees representing local industry, federal, state and local government, military, universities, students, and STEM educators and members of San Diego societies and organizations.

SHPE would like to encourage you to consider submitting a nomination for one of the various awards presented at the Banquet to engineers and for engineering projects! The nomination write-ups and submission process is relatively simple. The awards nomination submission due date is January 11th, 2016. Awards are being accepted for the following categories:
Outstanding Engineer Award
Outstanding Engineer Educator Award
Outstanding Engineer Project Award
Dr. Thomas Avolt Kanneman Outstanding Service Award

Registered SHPE San Diego Professionals will receive an email in the upcoming weeks with information to purchase discounted seating for the banquet. Please note that seating will be limited.

Students may apply for heavily discounted tickets to attend the banquet as well. More information is available in the “Student Reservation” section of http://www.new-sandiego.org/reservations.html Deadline for applying is February 8th, 2016!
